Global Summit 2007
Held in Barcelona in September and hosted by the IGLCC’s Spanish Affiliate Member Xarxagay – The LGBT Professionals, this First IGLCC Global Summit succeeded in gathering most of its Affiliate Members and Board of Directors to approve the Strategic Plan for 2007, which aimed to increase corporate support and implementation of services to its members.
It was at the occasion of the Summit that the Secretary General announced the exciting news of the expansion of its membership basis to a third continent. We welcomed with pride three (3) new member countries, respectively New Zealand, United Kingdom and Brazil. Our fourth (4) new member, Australia had joined us a few weeks later.
The conference “Gays, lesbians and the economy” attracted about 150 people from diverse sectors as well as considerable media attention.
Our presence in Barcelona was instrumental to help promote the work to start an “Iberian Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce”, which aims to work with the LGBT and non-LGBT business communities of Spain, Portugal and Andorra.
